Objectives/Goals

  • To provide strategic leadership and management for all field and laboratory services within the university.
  • To ensure the availability, functionality, and proper utilization of field and laboratory resources that support academic, research, and community service missions.
  • To promote a safe, efficient, and innovative working environment in both laboratory and field operations. 
  • To enhance the practical learning and research capacity of the university by ensuring access to well-managed and well-equipped laboratory and field facilities.
  • To foster internal and external partnerships that strengthen laboratory and field services through collaboration, training, and joint projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate and submit reports about the establishment of new laboratories whenever the need arises from colleges and following the status.
  2. Coach the overall activities of laboratories operating in the University
  3. Formulate laboratory-related strategic plans, policies, manuals, and procedures and follow up on their implementation in the University.
  4. Supervise and/or oversee good laboratory practices in the University laboratories
  5. Plan for short-term training for laboratory technical staff and users and submit it to the academic Vice President.
  6. Establish operational linkages with other laboratories within and outside of the University.
  7. Work to increase internal revenue through laboratory operations by serving external clients such as researchers and students from other institutions.
  8. Set benchmarks and continuously improve the standard of the laboratories.
  9. Verify that laboratory equipment is properly cared for, duly maintained, and efficiently utilized.
  10. Produce standard performance criteria to assess the competence of lab technicians to perform assigned tasks in the University.
  11. Evaluate the performance of laboratory technicians periodically.
  12. Develop a strategy to improve weakness in consultation with his subordinates.
  13. Prepare performance and achievement reports and make them accessible to any concerned body.
  14. Facilitate and follow the purchase of laboratory materials at the University.
  15. Organize and follow the technique committee for the purchase of laboratory materials. 
  16. Improve effectiveness of practical education.
