The Managing Director of Wolkite University Specialized Hospital is the chief executive responsible for the overall administration, strategic direction, and operational efficiency of the hospital. The role entails ensuring high-quality healthcare service delivery, effective resource management, staff development, and alignment with national health policies and the university’s broader academic and community service missions. The Managing Director works closely with health professionals, administrative teams, university leadership, and government health authorities to achieve the hospital’s mission of delivering accessible, patient-centered, and evidence-based healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Leadership and Strategic Management
- Provide overall leadership in planning, organizing, and directing hospital activities.
- Develop and implement strategic and operational plans in line with the university’s mission and national health priorities.
- Guide the formulation and execution of hospital policies, guidelines, and protocols.
- Healthcare Service Delivery
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered healthcare services.
- Oversee the integration of clinical services with teaching and research functions.
- Monitor patient care standards and implement quality improvement programs.
- Resource Management
- Ensure efficient and transparent utilization of human, financial, and material resources.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of budgets, procurement plans, and performance reports.
- Facilitate the mobilization of additional resources through partnerships and grant opportunities.
- Human Resource Development
- Support staff recruitment, development, retention, and performance evaluation.
- Promote continuous professional development and capacity-building initiatives.
- Foster a positive and accountable work environment.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Monitor hospital performance through established indicators and evaluation frameworks.
- Generate timely and accurate reports to the university and relevant government agencies.
- Use data for evidence-based decision-making and policy improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
- Represent the hospital in meetings, forums, and collaborations with health bureaus, development partners, and the community.
- Foster partnerships with academic, governmental, and non-governmental institutions for mutual growth.
- Innovation and System Improvement
- Lead initiatives to improve service delivery systems and workflows.
- Encourage the use of technology and innovation to enhance operational efficiency.
- Implement change management strategies for sustainable transformation.
