Duties and Responsibilities of the Head of the Department
- Leadership and Administration
v Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the department’s academic and operational plans.
v Chair departmental meetings and represent the department in college and university-wide meetings.
v Ensure the implementation of the university’s policies, guidelines, and regulations at the department level.
- Academic Coordination
v Coordinate the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
v Supervise the scheduling and administration of courses, examinations, and evaluations.
v Ensure effective academic advising and mentoring of students.
- Human Resource Management
v Oversee the recruitment, orientation, workload allocation, and evaluation of academic and administrative staff.
v Support staff development through mentorship, training, and performance feedback.
- Research, Publication, and Community Service
v Promote research activities, support staff in publishing scholarly work, and facilitate collaborative projects.
v Coordinate and monitor community service projects led by the department.
- Quality Assurance
v Ensure academic programs comply with national quality standards and contribute to internal and external audits.
v Facilitate curriculum reviews and self-assessment processes.
- Budgeting and Resource Management
v Prepare and manage the department's annual budget in collaboration with the college administration.
v Ensure the optimal use and maintenance of laboratory, workshop, and teaching facilities.

v Address student academic concerns and disciplinary issues in coordination with relevant university offices.

v Submit regular reports on departmental activities, achievements, challenges, and needs to the Dean and University Management.
