An Overview of School of Medicine

The School of Medicine at Wolkite University was established as a flagship academic unit within the College of Medicine and Health Sciences to contribute meaningfully to the country's healthcare system by training highly competent and ethical medical doctors. Its creation responds to the national need for expanding access to quality medical education and addressing the shortage of skilled physicians in both urban and rural areas of Ethiopia.

The school offers a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MD) program based on a modular, integrated, and competency-based curriculum that aligns with national medical education standards and global best practices. It integrates foundational medical sciences, clinical skills training, and community-based education to ensure the holistic development of students.

In addition to teaching and clinical training, the School of Medicine is actively engaged in health research, policy advocacy, and community service programs aimed at improving healthcare delivery and population health. The school works in close partnership with local hospitals, health bureaus, and international academic institutions to enhance the quality and relevance of its medical education.
