During the program, the Project Coordinator Dr. Getachew Mekonin , Lecturer of the University in College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Management , has given clear justification about the process of this best variety of maize from its initial preparation until its completion period. Furthermore, Dr. Getachew has also elaborated that in the multiplication process of this best variety of maize seed, research and community service vice president office in collaboration with College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Management have been conducted research on the area. Moreover, he also said that they have also made critical consultation with South Nations and Nationalities Regional State Bureau of Agriculture and Natural Resources Development, Agricultural Inputs Quality Control & Quarantine Authority. Dr. Getachew also explained that while they are discussing with Agricultural Inputs Quality Control & Quarantine Authority they have been given much more focus on the following four points: the required professionals, sufficient land farm (at least 40 hectare), the essential machineries and post harvesting quality control mechanisms.

Dr. Yohannis Gebru, Research and Community Service Vice President, in his part also said that this best variety of maize seed multiplication is one of the University's research and community service activities. He also added that the activity was a good beginning as well. Moreover Dr. Yohannis also added that in the future the University by making cooperation with the Gurage zone agriculture department shall conduct problem solving research works that can further alleviate the community problem at large.

Assistant Professor Kifle Lentiro, Director of Community Service, in his part said that BH 546 best variety of maize seed should be distributed for the low income gaining farmers.

BH 546 best variety of maize seed is ecologically suitable for spring and autumn farming, standardized, meets the needs of the farmers in size and type, in ensuring food security and enhancing the productivity of the farmers it will play its own significant role. .

Seed quality is the most significant part for production and productivity. The issue of maintaining seed quality at the country level is the current agenda of our government especially in ensuring food security and enhancing the productivity of the farmers. Additionally, the issue of maintaining seed quality in our country had been one of serious issues from time to time that has got the attention of the concerned stakeholders. BH 546 best variety of maize seed will be distributed for the low income gaining farmers in free of charge.

wrkshopA Workshop on curriculum design, multiculturalism and professionalism in Higher Education was held today. The workshop is organized by Education & Behavioral Science College in collaboration with academic affairs directorate. The workshop engages participants (instructors) from all college.

The purpose of the workshop was to enable the participants to be competent enough in planning, organization, and design of learning strategies, processes, materials, and experiences towards defined learning and/or performance outcomes. Moreover, the issue of multiculturalism and professionalism in higher education and how to conduct an assessment will be also addressed in the workshop.

Wolkite University Academic affairs vice president, Dr. Habte Dula made an opening speech and he said that the training is very crucial and directly related with the trainees’ profession and it is also more capacities the trainees overall performances. The Training will be given for two consecutive days.

Students’ performance assessment training was offered for nursing instructors here in Wolkite University, today.

Upon hearing that the list of prospective graduates from the registrar director report Wolkite University Senate has approved the following graduates.
