Goals/Objectives
- Enhance Global Research Collaboration:
ü Foster partnerships with international institutions and organizations to promote collaborative research projects.
ü Strengthen Wolkite University’s research capacity and visibility in the global academic and research community.
Internationalization Strategy
Science transcends national borders, and as such, international engagement is not a supplementary aspect of academic life but a crucial component that underpins a university’s success, innovation, and future relevance in a competitive global arena. Internationalization should be seamlessly embedded into the core functions of higher education research, teaching, and knowledge transfer. This integration is vital for fostering the institution’s long-term sustainability, ensuring it remains adaptable and responsive to the dynamic challenges and opportunities of the global academic and research environment.
International Students
Wolkite University is committed to attracting world-class educators and fostering an international academic environment. Currently, the university hosts approximately 64 international students, including 57 from South Sudan and 7 from Somaliland. The majority of these students are enrolled as full-time candidates pursuing their BSc or BA degrees. While this figure represents a small proportion compared to the overall Ethiopian student population, the university is experiencing rapid growth. The demand for international students continues to rise as internationalization remains a core strategic priority. Offering all academic programs in English provides a significant advantage by eliminating language barriers and promoting seamless communication between local and international faculty and students.
