1

Food security and climate change

Achieving sustainable food security in a world with a growing population, changing diets and a changing climate is a major challenge. More food is needed in the future but climate change means less food production potential and poor people will be hit the hardest.

2

Gender and development

Research on gender and development provides an understanding of what women and men do and how they relate to each other, but also an understanding of the ideas, conceptions and socio-material contexts that motivate and organize gender roles for development

3

Agricultural extension and communication

Agricultural extension and communication plays a crucial role in promoting agricultural productivity, increasing food security, improving rural livelihoods, and promoting agriculture as an engine of pro-poor economic growth.
